INTRODUCTION
A tax advisor’s goal is to help clients avoid taxes as much as they can within the bounds of the law but to take precautions to not cross the line into tax evasion.
Note: If you have not yet read the Gregory v. Helvering case, please do so before continuing with this task.
REQUIREMENTS
Your submission must be your original work. No more than a combined total of 30% of the submission and
no more than a 10% match to any one individual source can be directly quoted or closely paraphrased
from sources, even if cited correctly. An originality report is provided when you submit your task that can
be used as a guide.

Using the provided list of cases that cite the Gregory case or other primary sources you may find in your
research, please do the following:
A. Write an essay (suggested length of 8–10 pages) in which you do the following:
1. Compare the differences between tax avoidance and tax evasion, using cases from the “Cases
Citing Gregory” attachment or other primary sources.
a. Discuss two examples of tax avoidance using at least two cases from the “Cases Citing Gregory”
attachment or other primary sources.
b. Discuss two examples of tax evasion using at least two cases from the “Cases Citing Gregory”

sources to support your discussion in part B.
C. When you use sources, include all in-text citations and references in APA format.
