The ability to read and comprehend published research is a critical skill each EC381 student should acquire. Your assignment is to read and present to the class a comprehensive written review of the article I’ve assigned to you. Each article is directly related to your proposed area of study and listed in a separate handout posted on Blackboard. This assignment is worth a total of 15% of your course grade and will be due on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at the beginning of class. Presentations will begin on March 25, 2019 and be assigned alphabetically-handout listing actual articles to be reviewed will be available shortly after your research project proposal is approved.
The general format of each review must include the following:
1. INTRODUCTION:
Provide a brief introduction of the research topic. Discuss why this subject matter is important in a managerial economics context.
This section of your report should be approximately ½ of a page.
2. ECONOMIC THEORY:
This part of your review must contain the paper’s theoretical model along with all major a priori hypotheses as supported by the findings of previously cited research.
This section of your report should be between 1½ – 2 ½ pages.
3. EMPIRICAL INVESTIGATION AND DISCUSSION:
This part of the investigation must include the critical statistical results. It is in this section that the following should be discussed: (i)Brief discussion of data definitions and sources, (ii) empirical model specification and an examination of each hypothesis and their economicmeaning, and (iii) an investigation of the statistical modeling specification effort as it relates to critical managerial economicissues.
This section of your report should be approximately 1 – 2 pages.
4. CONCLUSIONS:
This final part of your review should summarize the major points of the investigation. It is at this point that you may want to point out how future investigations could improve upon what the researcher did.
This section of your report should be approximately ½ a page.
FOOTNOTES AND REFERENCES:
The use of footnotes or end notes is strongly encouraged. Your reference section must contain a full set of all documentation utilized in the review.
